Gordon Ramsay Shed 30 Pounds Training For First Triathlon; 'I Look Like A Bloody Piece of Asparagus' (VIDEO)

Chef Gordon Ramsay traded in fatty foods for green shakes, in order to drop 30 pounds while training for his first triathlon.

The celebrity chef and TV host competed in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii earlier this month. He shed 30 pounds due to a strict diet and training schedule.

"I look like a bloody piece of asparagus!" Ramsey said about his new physique in the November issue of Triathlete Magazine.

The 6-foot-2 "Hell's Kitchen" host, who said he would not let his weight drop below 190 pounds, slimmed down by ditching dairy, eating protein-packed meals like fish and chicken. His exercise routine consisted of going on 70-mile bike rides and 25-mile runs. The 46-year-old said as a chef, trying to shed pounds is a hard accomplishment.

"It's difficult as a chef, you've got to taste things," Ramsay told the magazine.

Ramsay said he was waking up at 4:30 a.m. to train before filming at 8 a.m.

"My biggest training motivator is time to myself," he explained in a behind-the-scenes video at the Triathlete shoot. "I see it as a way of a rest. I'm away from everyone; I've got no mic on."

According to the New York Daily News, the one-time Scotland soccer pro finished the race in just over 14 hours. The triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim followed by a 112-mile bike ride and then a 26.2-mile run.

Ramsay said the idea of a triathlon was presented to him when he ran right into one during a solo hike in Malibu, Calif. He said he watched as participates went from water to land, and soon after that, Ramsey said he bought a wetsuit.

The November issue of Triathlete is on stands now.
