Was Gordon Ramsay joking when he admitted to spying on his teenage daughter?
The "Kitchen Nightmare" star is known for saying a lot of outrageous things, but the comment he made about spying on his daughter has gone viral. According to NBC News, the celebrity chef told British talk show host Jonathan Ross he installed a device in her room to make sure she was working hard.
"Megan's 15, she's here tonight with her boyfriend," Ramsay said on the ITV show. "They've been spending a lot of time in her room recently. But revising. Revising."
Ramsey said he installed a Go-Pro camera in her room with the help of his 13-year-old son to make sure that Megan was actually studying when in her room with her boyfriend.
The 46-year-old chef has four children with his wife Tana, 38. Megan is the oldest. Ramsey has twins Jack and Holly, 13, and Matilda, 11, is the youngest.
"I've been a bit naughty over the last couple of weeks because I got Jack a little Go-Pro. One of those little secret cameras," he said."I said to him, 'Look mate, here's twenty quid [about $30], go and target your big sister's room and put that camera right at the top left-hand side of the wardrobe."
The Scottish father-of-four's confession will be broadcast on ITV on Saturday night, the Telegraph reported.
Gordon keeps a watchful eye on all his children, particularly the sisters.
"With three girls it's difficult now. I am absolutely crapping myself," he was previously quoted as telling The Daily Star earlier this year. "My son said, 'Daddy, Megan had a friend around yesterday called Alex, but it wasn't a girl, it was a guy.' I said, 'Jack, get me his cell number now.' So he sneaks to Megan's room, and two minutes later I'm on my cell."
A rep for Ramsay later told NBC News that the comment was taken out of context and was "nothing more than a joke he made up on the show to poke fun and embarrass Megan, who was sitting in the audience with her boyfriend."
