Actor Randy Quaid And His Wife Released From Vermont Jail

Following earlier reports about Randy Quaid and his wife's arrest on Saturday, October 10,  due to their pending California warrant, a Vermont judge has ordered their release from jail and reduced their bail to $50,000 each on Thursday, October 15,  Entertainment Weekly reported.

Reports say that the Superior Court Judge, Alison Arms  found no reason for Quaid and his wife Evi to be on-hold, in fact, the two were even allowed to walk freely from a St. Albans courthouse situated in northern Vermont, as confirmed by one of the officials.

"What a great judge," Evi said in a statement. "Totally fair. This is Vermont. This is why we crossed the border into Vermont.. I knew that the people of Vermont, the judge, understand us."

Prior to their arrest, Quaid's lawyer, Attorney Peter Langrock, said that the couple intends to address the charges in California, adding that Eva will stay in Vermont to take care of her sick father.

"He has connections here," Langrock said. "He has family here. He has a father-in-law who's ill, he wants to help here."

Randy and Eva Quaid were arrested after crossing the Canadian border when they were trying to re-enter the United States, with pending vandalism and felony charges filed against them in 2010, reports say.

The two had separate court appearances and Randy upon showing up in court, argued for a lower bail as he insisted that it was the bail bondman's fault for failing to inform him about his scheduled court appearances.

"We heard about it through the Internet that we had missed this court appearance that we didn't know anything about," he said.

Randy Quaid, who is the younger brother of 'The Day After Tomorrow' actor, Dennis Quaid, was nominated for an Academy Award for portraying a supporting role in the 1973 hit movie 'The Last Detail'.
