The scariest night of the year is fast approaching, and AirBnB's Halloween offer is far creepier than the average trick or treating, as it offers the real chance to spend the entire night with the dead in the biggest mass graveyard in the world: the catacombs of Paris.
The World's Largest Grave, as the catacombs of Paris are known throughout the planet, is one of the City of Lights' biggest tourist attractions, with millions of people visiting the creepy tunnels in the underbelly of the French capital that are filled with bones from the past two centuries - and AirBnB's Halloween contest could bring you there on the scariest night of the year.
According to The Independent, a new AirBnB Halloween contest is giving two people the chance to spend the scariest night of the year in one of the scariest places on Earth, as they'll be giving two "lucky" winners the chance to explore the catacombs of Paris during the nighttime as well as sleeping there and getting a free concert, dinner and breakfast the next day.
"Before bedtime, a storyteller will have you spellbound with fascinating tales from the catacombs, guaranteed to produce nightmares," the company describes this AirBnB Halloween experience. "Finally, enjoy dawn with the dead, as you become the only living person ever to wake up in the Paris catacombs."
As stated on the company's website, to participate in the AirBnB Halloween contest, daredevils will have to write an essay (in English or French) explaining why they want to spend the night with 6 million Paris skeletons - and there's a chance for a few days, as stories can be submitted until midnight October 20.
The Guardian reports that AirBnB paid 350,000 euros (almost $400k) to privatize the tunnels for this experience, which will in fact be the first time such a thing occurs.
