Red Hot Chili Peppers and John Legend to Perform in a Rare 300-Seat Benefit Gig

The American rock band formed in Los Angeles - Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Roger Stephens, better known by his stage name John Legend and the American jazz saxophonist - Kamasi Washington, are going to perform in an exclusive Los Angeles show to about 300 guests, where art works by Damien Hirst (most prominent member of the group known as the Young British Artists) and a number of other famous artists will also be up for auction.

The event will be this Saturday, October 17, and it will aid a non-profit Silverlake Conservatory of Music held at a warehouse at an undisclosed location. Tickets are highly exclusive for the event and they are available by emailing the organizers - where tickets are expected to be expensive.

Silverlake Conservatory of Music has the intention to support individuals who otherwise don't have the capability to experience music classes or education.

Flea, Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist, that has a long-established relationship with the organization, helped set up the Los Angeles show back in 2001 to give tribute to the influence of music in the bassist's own life. Flea explained how music helped him to escape from a life of "drug abuse and delinquency," and how he ended up having a role at the Silverlake Conservatory.

Flea said in promoting the event, "I know we are asking a lot of money from them, but it's for the kids, not for us."

Anthony Kiedis, the lead vocalist of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, said, "The social event we throw to raise love, cash and the consciousness for Silverlake Conservatory of Music are as entertaining as they are meaningful. To be aware how huge the musicians and other artists contribute is a testament, and to how essential they all know the arts are for our young people. Let there be sound and vision my friends....."

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform an acoustic set at the event.
