This month American film writer and director Matt Reeves is getting ready to start his principal filmography on the American science fiction film - War for the Planet of the Apes, and with that, Reeves has been working on adding up the cast for the upcoming installment in the franchise.
English film actor and author Andy Serkis is obviously returning as ape leader Caesar, and just last month, it has been said that the two-time Academy Award nominee - Woody Harrelson has come on board for 'War for the Planet of the Apes' to play as a human antagonist.
Reportedly, director Matt Reeves is looking for a second human lead for the motion picture, the director is also adding on to the already large group of apes. Steve Zahn, who portrayed Phoebe Buffay's husband Duncan in a 1995 episode of Friends, has joined the forthcoming flick to play a new chimp character.
As Steve Zahn portrays a new chimp character and not one of the new humans, the actor will spice up the franchise - given that the clan of Caesar has reached large number with a state formally cooperated with Maurice and Rocket among others, and that is a reason that there would be no room for more chimps in the group.
However, Reeves made it clear through Twitter that the title of the upcoming film is War For The Planet Of The Apes, and not War Of The Planet Of The Apes. It's less in seriousness, but certainly better than War Apes: Conflict Of The Simians, which would have been the film's title had Michael Bay gotten his paws on the franchise.
Steve Zahn is represented by UTA, Principal Entertainment and Frank Stewart.
And War for the Planet of the Apes is slated to hit theaters on July 14, 2017.
