'Fifty Shades of Grey' Author, E.L. James, Unveils Book-Inspired Wine

E.L. James, the author of "Fifty Shades of Grey," wants her readers to have a glass of wine while they read her books, but not just any kind of wine.

According to the New York Daily News, James has partnered with California wine makers to produce a pair of red and white wines. The successful author is now selling "Fifty Shades of Grey" inspired wines called "Red Satin" and "White Silk".

"I've always had a penchant for good wine, so combining two of my passions to blend Red Satin and White Silk was a natural extension of the Fifty Shades trilogy," James' statement reads on her site. "I hope my readers curl up with a glass as they enjoy the romance between Anastasia and Christian."

Fifty Shades of Wine will be sold in select states across the U.S. starting next month. Bottles retail for $18. The wines were reportedly personally blended with winemakers from the North Coast.

The red wine, with the tagline "You are Mine," is a blend of Petite Syrah and Syrah. The website describes it as having "notes of black cherry, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, leather and clove." The wine is aged in French oak barrels.

White Silk is a blend of Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. James said the wine includes lychee and honey and tasting notes of grapefruit, mineral, pear and butterscotch. The white wine is aged in steel tanks.

"Wine plays an important role in 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' adding to the sensuality that pervades a number of scenes," James said in a statement.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" franchise has become big business. Beside the spinoff onto the big screen, the franchises have become parodies including "Fifty Shades of Chicken," which is descrided as "a wildly erotic and animalistic cookbook", according to Amazon.

According to Amazon, "Fifty Sheds of Grey" described as "one man's struggle against a tide of tempestuous, erotic desire and the greatest love of all: the love between a man and his shed."
