Johnny Depp "Doesn't Want To Win An Oscar"

Johnny Depp has been nominated for the Oscars for his exceptional performance on several films. Among them are Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Finding Neverland, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Curse of the Black Pearl but according to the actor he has no great interest in acquiring a little gold man.

Black Mass premiered at the Venice Film Festival and after his chilling performance as Whitey Bulger, the real life gangster, Johnny Depp has once again been surfing a proverbial buzz for the Oscar.

However on Sunday, Depp told the NewsBeat at the London Film Festival's Black Mass premiere this,  "I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know,"

Last year, the actor was the subject of a wide spread media criticism after he gave a speech at the Hollywood Films awards and he was not even accepting an award then.

"I don't want to have to talk," the actor revealed as he reasoned why he was dodging an Academy Award. In addition to this, he said that  "The idea of winning means that you're in competition with someone and I'm not in competition with anybody."

Nevertheless, Black Mass is not an Oscar bid for the star. Depp has picked up three Best Actor nominations before, for his performances in Sweeney Todd, Finding Neverland, and the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. He said, "they gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times." Adding that, "a nomination is plenty."

"I haven't done anything different in this than I have in any other film," he further stated. However, not all would agree as Nashawaty said Depp in his review of Black Mass that, "The actor's really done his homework after playing hooky for what feels like too long."

As further proof that the Oscar nominee isn't taking himself too seriously the actor has chosen to appear in a reality show this fall.

On the November 4 episode of the cable custom car design series Overhaulin', the actor will appear alongside his wife Amber Heard on it. They will have Amber's '68 Mustang overhauled.
