It's easy to say that David Duchovny made his mark on primetime TV as FBI agent Fox Mulder in 'The X-Files,' but the 'Californication' actor also had a memorable role in another 90's TV show that is about to get a revival.
'Twin Peaks' fans would remember David Duchovny as Denise Bryson, the transgender DEA agent who once saved the life of Agent Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). Although the character only appeared in three episodes, Agent Bryson became one of the most beloved characters in 'Twin Peaks.'
So could Denise Bryson return in the 'Twin Peaks' revival? David Duchovny recently spoke to TVLine during the New York Comic Con, where he was promoting the 'X-Files' reboot.
"There is a chance I'll show up on 'Twin Peaks,'" Duchovny said, adding, "That's all I can say. I've been frightened into silence."
So far, the only character from 'Twin Peaks' who has been confirmed to return is Agent Cooper. If Denise Bryson returns for the revival, it could mean that several other memorable characters will be making an appearance as well.
David Duchovny did admit that he will be taking extra measure to make sure he can still fit into Denise Bryson's clothes and show some skin. "Yeah, I'll shave my legs," he said with a grin.
It wouldn't be too difficult for David Duchovny to return as Fox Mulder in the 'X-Files' reboot, but he will probably be looking for a new partner. Show creator Chris Carter has previously confirmed the rumored Mulder and Scully split in the new series, saying that it will give way to new storylines.
"We do it in an interesting way," Carter said. "We play with that relationship [in the event series]. We put some of the tension back in that was relieved by them being together. It added to the storytelling opportunities."
'The X-Files' returns to Fox in January 2016 while the 'Twin Peaks' revival could air in 2017.
