'The Flash' Update: Teddy Sears Speaks Up About Playing Jay Garrick And What To Expect In Season 2 [SPOILERS]

The season premiere of 'The Flash' ended with Barry (Grant Gustin) finding out that someone named Zoom is out to kill him and the appearance of Jay Garrick, who tells the crime scene investigator that the world is in danger.

Despite appearing to be the bearer of bad news, Teddy Sears is understandably happy to be a part of 'The Flash' Season Two. The actor who plays original speedster Jay Garrick recently spoke to TVLine to explain what it was like to land the coveted role.

"It's thrilling, but I didn't anticipate how thrilling it was going to be when I said, 'Yes,'" Sears admitted, adding that getting the role gave him a sense of importance.

"Besides the obvious stuff - suddenly I'm eight years old, running around in my backyard, playing superheroes with my friends - what I didn't anticipate was how important it felt when I was doing it. It's weird and hokey and maybe very actor-y, but there was something very important that began happening."

The 'Masters of Sex' star also confirmed that there was an incredible feeling when he first got to wear Jay Garrick's iconic headgear.

"There's that scene where I'm reunited with the helmet for the first time, and I remember shooting it. There was a real awe and reverence for seeing this thing," Sears said. "That was absolutely not acted at all. There was such substance in that moment."

So what can we expect from Jay Garrick in the future episodes of 'The Flash' Season Two?

"Jay's biggest rival is Zoom, and he needs Barry's help to defeat this guy," Sears explained. "When we see him, he arrives without his speed and he knows what Zoom is capable of, so he very much needs to enlist Barry and he needs to have Barry harness these powers and these depths that he didn't know he could reach. He needs Barry to achieve these things in order for him to defeat Zoom."

Watch Barry Allen team up with Jay Garrick in 'Flash of Two Worlds,' the second episode of 'The Flash' which will air on The CW on October 13 at 8pm.
