Thanksgiving Day is just right around the corner and everybody is excited as to what to put on their dinner table to celebrate with the family. But for those who are not aware of what happens every year, lots of foods will just be wasted during this time, so it's best to plan ahead what you will be needing for your preparation, that way you buy only what you need and avoid wastage.
A news report published from CBC stated that Chef Don Guthro of the North Shore Culinary School gave out some food tips on how Americans could stop wasting food every year during this season. He has been in the food industry for 35 years and has witnessed tons of food just heading to the trash because people lacked awareness on how to manage that. Seeing all these things happen right before his eyes, he decided to take action and got himself a mission to stop people from wasting food.
This mission was now called the Love Food Hate Waste Campaign. America is not the only country experiencing a lot of wasted food, as Canada is another country experiencing this phenomena. Here are some ways this campaign has come up with to help everyone prevent wasting food on Thanksgiving.
The first thing to do is make a list of your grocery items before hitting the store. Then, make sure that you have a planned menu before even making that list. Do this before hand and not on the day of Thanksgiving itself.
Next is to make sure you ask your visitors to bring containers for leftovers. Thanksgiving should be about giving as well, so this is the best day to do it. Make sure that you store all your food in the fridge and note all their expiration date.
