Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Salma Hayek among the Honorees at Power of Women

On Friday, the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills, held Variety's slelected Power of Women honorees. Which included American media proprietor, talk show host and actress - Oprah Winfrey, Mexican and American film actress and director - Salma Hayek, American actress and singer Gwyneth Paltrow, and Susan Wojcicki (YouTube CEO). As the event was presented by Lifetime, the said women brought down the house at the Power of Women luncheon.

The biannual event of Variety - held both in Los Angeles and New York each year, honors women in the entertainment industry, who use their public program to raise perception of a situation and work toward charitable causes.

As Oprah Winfrey was recognized for her amazing project with the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation, the author of What I Know For Sure was the only honoree to receive a standing ovation at the Variety Power of Women event; however, in true Oprah fashion, the media mogul, who was introduced by director Ava DuVernay, diverts the attention to the other women in the event.

The Oprah Winfrey Show host said, "I have always known this about celebrities," Winfrey also said, as she gave a nod to the public figures in the event. "The real power is understanding that what Salma Hayek Pinault has done, what Susan has done, what Gwyneth Paltrow has done, what Rebecca has done, what Jim has done, is you, too, can do it, for the reason that true philanthropy comes from living from the heart of yourself and giving what you have been given."

And as Oprah Winfrey continued, she urged the people in the event to make a difference themselves, "What we've already done, you can also do it. The real empowerment comes when each individual leaves this place and makes a decision."
