A few months after the release of Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood," which has been often considered an ode to strong and powerful women, another pop star with an attitude is releasing her own girl power-themed clip, as Demi Lovato's "Confident" sees the light of day!
After getting back in the horse with her hugely successful single "Cool for the Summer" a few months back, she's releasing the second single from her upcoming album, which has the same title as the October 16 release, Demi Lovato's "Confident" - and the Disney Channel alum's clip for it is nothing short of amazing!
According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the video for Demi Lovato's "Confident" has stars all over it, considering "Sin City" and "Machete" director Robert Rodriguez, expert in all things badass, shot it, giving Michelle Rodriguez the role of Lovato's nemesis in the story.
As MTV reports, the Demi Lovato "Confident" video was shot as a Dystopian western, a style director Rodriguez is fairly comfortable with after the "Desperado" films, and on it Demi and Michelle get to fighting quite a bit, with Rodriguez, who has a long track of action films like the "Fast and the Furious" movies and "Avatar," understandably throwing a lot of punches to Iggy Azalea's BFF.
According to People Magazine, Demi Lovato's "Confident" album marks a big moment in the singer's life, as she's gone through a series of missteps in her life including a widely publicized battle with mental illness and addiction.
"I went from being in a place where I was suffering from an eating disorder and hating every single inch of my body to now baring my legs and showing more skin in front of the whole world and being proud of my body instead of loathing it," Lovato said recently. "It's important for me to show people you can go from hating to yourself to loving yourself and being proud of your body and the skin you're in."
