Netflix just implemented a price hike for an additional $1 per month because they are very confident that their subscribers will pay for it anyway as they can't get enough of their favorite shows such as 'House of Cards' and 'Orange is the New Black.'
The online publication CJAD reported on this, that Netflix recently increased their monthly subscription rate for new clients. This is the second time that the company did this in just a span of 2 years. In Canada, new subscriptions will cost $9.99 per month. Meanwhile, a basic plan that costs $7.99 is still available but it does not have the high definition quality on videos that people love. Those who will opt for the lesser-priced deal will only be able to stream one show at a time.
The premium plan and its price remains for $11.99 a month. Having this deal will be enable a subscriber to stream 4 shows in ultra high definition with a 4k content using the same login account.
Back in 2014 when Netflix first implemented a price hike, the company said their subscribers won't see any increase in their billing statement for 2 years. It is looking like that is not happening.
Techhive predicted that a large number of people will most likely take their outrage concerning the price hike to their social media account like Twitter. However, they will still have to contend with it and eventually pay for it monthly since the new price was already implemented by the company.
Considering the amount of the increase, it shouldn't really be that heavy on the pocket especially since it is to be paid monthly and considered a consummable. For those who can very well afford it, it may seem like a "drop in the bucket". As for the majority, it can be said that the amount of the increase is still reasonable , especially if it allows anyone to binge watch Orange Is The New Black (OITNB) and House of Cards.
