Claire Danes Defends Her Past Romance With Billy Crudup Who Left Pregnant Mary-Louise Parker To Be With Her

It has been more than a decade, when actor Billy Crudup left a then pregnant Mary-Louise Parker for Claire Danes, however, it's pretty obvious that the controversy has lasting effects .

On Monday, the Homeland star, now 36 and happily married to former Hannibal star Hugh Dancy, surprisingly opened up about the 2003 scandal she was involved in while she was on Howard Stern's Sirius XM.

At that time, Crudup has been dating Parker for eight years and they were expecting their first child. When Crudup met Danes on the set of the film, Stage Beauty, he broke-up with Parker even while she was seven months pregnant.

"I was just in love with him,"  recalls Danes of her relationship with the 47-year-old actor. "And needed to explore that and I was 24... I didn't quite know what those consequences would be."

With regards to the public backlash she experienced, Danes added "that was a scary thing," and went on saying,"that was really hard. I didn't know how to not do that."

On November 10, Parker will release her first book, Dear Mr. You, it will presumably shed some light on the atrocious love triangle.

Through a series of letters addressed to the most important men in her life, the 51-year-old actress' memoir will tell her story.

Parker, shares an 11-year-old son with Crudup and named him William after the actor. She was briefly engaged to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, her Weeds co-star.

Danes, on her part  is finally at peace with the situation. "Its OK," she reflected. "I went through it."

"We're friendly we're friends," she added about her current relationship with Crudup.

Danes and Crudup went their separate ways in 2006 after dating for three years. In 2009, she married 40-year-old Hugh Dancy and they have a 3-year-old child named Cyrus.

Danes and her mother are supporters of the charity Afghan Hands. She has alsobeen a long time supporter of Donors choose organization, a website that allows public school teachers to create project requests. Donors then choose what projects inspire them, and help to fund those project.

Danes received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame last September 24, 2015.
