50 Cent is used to start a feud with other rappers, but now he’s going after TV shows — one in particular. The 40-year-old rapper has had an ongoing feud with the Fox hip hop hit 'Empire,' but when he dissed the series this time around, he took a big shot at gay people too.
50 Cent reposted a message on Instagram from another user who made the suggestion.
It said: "There are 3 million less viewers who tuned into last night's Empire episode!!!! did you watch it? We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!"
There was a lot of criticism of the message and it has now been taken down.
Now, he’s backing off the comment and has been forced to clarify that he is not a homophobe. His rep claims that 50 posted the pic without noticing the anti-gay comments and he took it down as soon as he realized what it said. The rep also says that the comment was “not a reflection of his views at all,” according to TMZ.
50 Cent hasn’t never exactly been Empire’s biggest fan. He once said the show was “like Glee with a little hip-hop music in it.” Maybe that’s because his show, 'Power,' is often compared to 'Empire.'
He has previously said that his premium cable program is "worth paying for" compared to Empire, which is free to watch in America.
The issue of gay storylines in Empire is nothing new.
Its creator, Lee Daniels, was previously reported to be disappointed that gay storylines didn't play well with audiences when they did test screenings of the show.
Empire is popular in the UK and the second series starts on Tuesday evening at 9pm on E4.
When the show premiered earlier this year on E4 it drew an audience of more than half a million viewers - making it the channel's biggest new show this year.
