‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie: Brendan Gleeson And Jeremy Irons Join Michael Fassbender And Marion Cotillard In All-Star Videogame Adaptation Cast

2016 is definitely going to be a year for geeks in films, with big premieres such as "Captain America: Civil War" and "Suicide Squad" coming up next year, as well as the first-ever "Assassin's Creed" movie, starring Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender in the lead - which has now added two of England's most amazing character actors!

Jeremy Irons will be on at least two of next year's biggest films, namely "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" (where he will play Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred) and now the "Assassin's Creed" movie, as he's just been announced to co-star, along with "Harry Potter" actor Brendan Gleeson, better known as Mad-Eye Moody.

According to Deadline, these two new additions to the "Assassin's Creed" movie will be playing fathers: Gleeson is set to portray the father of Fassbender's character, Callum Lynch, while Irons will play the father of Oscar-winning co-star Marion Cotillard.

As Cinema Blend reports, the announcement of these two amazing additions to the cast (Gleeson, has an Emmy his name, while Irons has an Academy Award, three Emmys, a Tony and two Golden Globes) happened as the "Assassin's Creed" movie is already in production, as the film's set to shoot in Spain, London and Malta for the next few weeks.

Of course, the "Assassin's Creed" movie is the first foray into the big screen of the extremely popular Ubisoft series of games, as there have already been 14 sequels of the original 2007 game and a fifteenth game on the way.

According to What Culture, this will mark the second time Fassbender and Cotillard share the screen after their recently released version of "Macbeth," where the Irish-German actor plays the title character and the French star plays Lady Macbeth - they will also be reuniting with their director for the film, Justin Kurzel.

The "Assassin's Creed" movie will be released on December 21, 2016 in the U.S.
