It's not a trap - Admiral Ackbar is coming back in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'
According to The Australian, puppeteer Tim Rose recently spoke to AAP in Sydney to confirm his return as the Supreme Commander of the Rebel Alliance Fleet. However, the 'Return of the Jedi' actor isn't very happy about keeping too many secrets from the public.
"I'm very frustrated by that," Rose said. "Out of the need to be secret, we're not actually able to get everything we need to do our jobs as well as we could, and as someone who has been doing it for 35 years, I find it very frustrating."
Tim Rose also admitted that he wasn't fond of putting on the Admiral Ackbar costume, but loves the idea of bringing the character to life.
"It takes a unique sort of masochist to ever want to do it in the first place," Rose said of putting on the costume. "But the joy of doing it is the joy of animatronics, and that's taking the foam latex, an inanimate object, and making people think it's alive."
The puppeteer confided that it was probably important that he reprise his role as Admiral Ackbar because fans would know if the character was portrayed by a different actor.
"I'd like to think I gave Ackbar something special which you can tell. I think you can," Rose said. "I can tell when I see my friends who do specialised and full body suit work no matter what character they go into; I can tell you exactly who it is because I know their movements so well."
Tim Rose was also happy to report that 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will not disappoint the fans.
"What I can say about the new movie is that if you were a fan of the original three, you're going to absolutely love this one to bits," he said, adding that Admiral Ackbar will not be the only familiar face we will see in the film.
"You can expect a smorgasbord of people you love," Rose said.
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will premiere on December 18.
