In the past, the Internet has killed off a number of celebrities, from "Home Alone" grown child star Macaulay Culkin to "Rocky" legend Sylvester Stallone and even Playboy founder Hugh Hefner - and now, the latest victim of this kind of terrible joke is one of the most iconic guitar players in the world, as Carlos Santana's death goes viral.
Earlier this week, a rumor of Carlos' Santana's death began to go viral last Tuesday, when Twitter reports claimed the 68 year-old musician, one of the most iconic people in the Hispanic community of the United States, had passed away.
However, according to USA Today, reps for the "Oye Como Va" star have already confirmed hat Carlos' Santana's death is nothing but an Internet rumor, as the legendary musician, who has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson and Tina Turner, is not only alive but well and keeping up the good work!
"Carlos is alive and well and enjoying his morning!" said the artist's team on Santana's official Facebook page, speaking about Carlos Sanana's death hoax, according to Billboard. "Thank you all for your concern, but the reports of his passing are false."
A few weeks back, Santana joined many of the biggest Latino stars in the world, including the Estefans (Emilio and Gloria) and Shakira, in a campaign aimed at shutting down controversy surrounding Donald Trump's anti-Latino statements.
According to The Inquisitr, Carlos Santana's death rumor first started through CBC reporter Chris Walker, when he tweeted that the musician had been found dead - prompting a quick answer from Santana's own daughter, Stella, who said that wasn't true and she was actually texting with her famous dad as she tweeted.
A few months back, another victim of a celebrity death hoax was "Terminator" actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, when fake news site MSMBC.co reported he'd been found dead.
In any case, it's great to know that, to paraphrase Mark Twain, the reports of Carlos Santana's death have been greatly exaggerated!
