'Doctor Strange' Update: Mads Mikkelsen Speaks Up About Playing The Villain In The Marvel Flick! Kevin Feige Confirms Stephen Strange's Origin Story!

The 'Doctor Strange' fandom was recently rocked with news that 'Hannibal' star Mads Mikkelsen is being considered to play the villain in the upcoming Marvel film. The rumors immediately led to speculations that the Danish actor will portray Dormammu, Stephen Strange's ultimate nemesis.

But is it true that Mads Mikkelsen has been cast in 'Doctor Strange?'

"I know as much as the rest of the world about it," Mikkelsen told Chinese website Mtime. "So far it's been rumors, and so I'm waiting for a phone call. And if they do call me I would be over the moon."

Mads Mikkelsen also admitted that he is interested in being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"It would be fantastic to be part of the Marvel family," he said. "I mean it's something we all grew up with and we all have our heroes and 'Doctor Strange' is definitely one of the more interesting things."

Although it is still unclear whether Mads Mikkelsen will receive an offer to play the villain in 'Doctor Strange,' Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that the film will show Stephen Strange's transformation.

"For some reason people sometimes talked about how we're not doing an origin story, we're bored of origin stories. I think people are bored of origin stories they've seen before or origin stories that are overly familiar," Feige explained to IGN.

"'Doctor Strange' has one of the best, most classic, most unique origin stories of any hero we have, so why wouldn't we do that? That was sort of always the plan," Feige continued. "How you tell that origin, perhaps there are ways to twist it or play with that, but for the most part, it's a gift when the comics have something with such clarity of story and of character. That doesn't always happen in the comics, and when it does, you use it."

'Doctor Strange' is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
