LG To Release Ultra-Thin 'Gram' Laptops To Compete With Apple's MacBook Air

LG has just announced that they will be launching its first ever ultra-thin Gram laptops in the US. The new device will be sold at an initial price of $900.

For the first time, the South Korean multinational company has decided to venture out into new products in the form of super-slim notebooks. The new laptop, which features light design is said to be market in competition with the already established MacBook Air of Apple.

The new notebooks, which run on Windows 10 operating system, come in a 13-inch and 14-inch screen dimensions. The laptop series is named as "Gram" simply because each of the unit weighs less than 1 kilogram. To be specific, the 13-inch and 14-inch devices only weigh 2.16 pounds each on average. In contrast, the 13-inch MacBook Air weighs approximately 2.96 pounds.

The 13-inch model can be acquired in white color while the 14-inch is available in a champagne gold-colored exterior. According to LG, the devices are supported by a carbon-lithium and carbon-magnesium built, which will make the products tough compared with the MacBook Air.

In terms of specification, the LG Gram 13 is powered by an Intel Core i5-5200U together with an 8GB of RAM. It has a 128GB SSD storage and will be sold at a price of $899.

The LG Gram 14 on the other hand can be bought in two variations. The first one which will be sold at $999 has an Intel i5-5200U processor with an 8GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD. The other 14-inch model is powered by an Intel Core i7-5500U, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. It will be sold at a suggested price of $1,399.
