Leonardo DiCarprio at Global Citizen Festival in NYC: Save the Earth!

The Wolf of Wall Street star, Leonardo DiCaprio looking elegant in a blazer and jeans showed up for the Global Citizen Festival in New York's Central Park on Saturday

DiCaprio was one of a number of celebrity speakers at the free event which is connected to the Global Poverty Project.

In his on-stage notes to the multitude, the actor, 40, said: 'The cause of our environment and the fight for the world's poor are inherently linked. The planet can no longer wait. The underprivileged can no longer be ignored,' DiCaprio added. 'This is truly our moment for action.'

The actor hunk, 40, had his newly cut hair slicked back and sported a tidily trimmed mustache and goatee. He completed his appearance with an open neck shirt, slip-on loafers and rock star shades. Victoria's Secret model Erin Heatherton his ex-girlfriend was also in the event.

The Global Citizen Festival aims to combat poverty, inequality, and climate change all over the world. Global Citizen is a community of people who want to learn about and take action on the world's biggest challenges and use their power to get other people involdved too.

Also on the schedule of celebrity speakers were Bono, Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-Lee Furness, Stephen Colbert, Salma Hayek and Kerry Washington.

The free concert featured presentation by Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Pearl Jam and Beyonce.

DiCaprio is well-known for his support of environmental causes.

Through his personal Foundation the Wolf of Wall Street star supports action to conserve the environment and save the endangered species from harm.

He also awards donation to help pay for dirt free water projects.

The five-time Oscar nominee is set to receive the Actors Inspiration Award at a ceremony in Los Angeles on November 5, reported on Thursday.

The admiration is in acknowledgment of the actor's on-screen accomplishment and his philanthropic work as chairman of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.
