The Muscle Maker Grill restaurant chain is coming to Connecticut and will provide some healthy living with high protein food options.
According to NBC Connecticut, this will be the first of 15 restaurant locations. The Connecticut franchise is expected to open on July 22.
"Muscle Maker Grill's mission is to offer healthier versions of mainstream favorite dishes that taste great," Megan Redzia, public relations supervisor for Muscle Maker Grill said. "Many people have the preconceived notion that eating healthy is bland and expensive, but we are dedicated to providing flavorful, affordable options."
New York City firefighter and Connecticut-native, Robert Painter, is a co-owner of the franchise. He became involved with the Muscle Maker Grill after eating there himself.
"We're excited to actually be able to provide a healthy option to the people of Connecticut," Painter said. "We are estimating to bring between 200 and 250 jobs."
According to the NBC Connecticut, the restaurant is said to have a great "sit-down relaxed atmosphere" and is a good alternative to fast-food joint for families. The restaurant comes with five new menu addition. Each item is under 400 calories and under $6.
The menu also has options for individuals on special diets, such as gluten-free, vegetarian and crab-free. Customers will have access to nutritional information at all locations.
The first location will be 2075 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.
