Sony Pictures' Hotel Transylvania 2 just hit the box office with huge success. Contrary to the popular belief that it's a Happy Madison production since Adam Sandler is part of it, Sony Picture Animation is actually responsible for this hit's release, which by the way is a parent company that is very much close to Sandler's production house according to AV Club.
The animated film doesn't just feauture the voice of Adam Sandler but a lot of Hollywood's A-listers like Selena Gomez, Kevin James and tons of actors from Saturday Night Live as well. We've been seeing a lot of comments praising the film, but IGN really caught our attention with their verdict on the supposed blockbuster film.
IGN says that although the film did a great job with its visuals, the plot was weaker than the first installment. The story seems like a desperate attempt to be cool and comedic. It's an ironic turn out since the cast is filled with a bunch of A-list comedians. Setting aside the story of this film, the publication thinks that the real star in this movie is none other than the artist who made the animation a work of brilliance and that is none other than Tartakovsky.
Variety did their own review on both the film's story and visuals. The movie did impress most kids, but the adults with them? Probably not. But after all it was created for the entertainment of the little kiddies and kids at heart. The story of Dracula fearing his grandson not growing up as a scary monster is not exactly something that many can appreciate, but we like to think that the flow of the story is an acquired taste.
