Is Hayden Christensen Returning To Star Wars?

Could the chosen one make an appearance in the new Star Wars Trilogy? A rumor that originated from website Making Star Wars indicates that Hayden Christensen may be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Disney's new slate of films.

According to the sites' sources, Christensen may appear in both Star Wars Episode VIII and the upcoming anthology spin-off film Rogue One. They reported that Vader's iconic armor and helmet were spotted in the prop department of the film.

Rogue One is the first of many planned films that focus on previously unexplored parts of the Star Wars universe. Set in between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, it tells the story of a group of rebel soldiers who went behind imperial lines to steal the blueprints of the first Death Star.

Given the timeframe the film is set in, it would make sense for Vader to make an appearance in full costume. The site speculates:

It seems like if Darth Vader was in Star Wars: Rogue One with an action scene no less, there would be several Darth Vader suits. To the best of our knowledge at this point there aren't. Maybe it was the first one they made and there were more to come. Maybe it was simply at the location to serve as an inspiration to the shop?

What's more implausible is Christensen possibly showing up in the still untitled Episode VIII.

Many have speculated on what Vader's involvement in the new trilogy will be. Though he did perish at the end of Return of the Jedi, his presence still looms large over the new films. The image of his burned mask in the first trailer of Episode VII: The Force Awakens has led many to believe that Vader still has a part to play.

According to Making Star Wars:

'A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort.'
