Not exactly a scandal, but this certainly is a surprise.
Actress Kerry Washington married San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in a private ceremony on June 24 in Blaine County, Idaho.
Reported by sport gossip site TerezOwens.com first, the happily-married couple has been dating since last summer.
According to ABC news, the Blaine County Recorder's Office confirmed a marriage license was issued for the couple at 9:16 a.m. Washington parents signed the certificate as witnesses. The groom's sister, Chisaraokwu Asomugha, a minister in Silver Spring, Md - officiated.
Asomugha, 31, is a three-time Pro Bowler, who signed with the 49ers earlier this year. He previously played for the Oakland Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington's new husband is no stranger to showbiz, with acting gigs on "The Game" and "Friday Night Lights".
The actress recently made headlines for being the first African American woman to graze to cover of the August edition of Vanity Fair.
"One of the most profound things for me about [Scandal] is the number of white woman of all ages who come up to me and say "I want to be Olivia Pope," Washington told Vanity Fair Magazine in the upcoming issue.
This is the first marriage for both stars. Washington,36, was engaged to longtime boyfriend David Moscow, but the wedding was called off in 2007.
The actress has kept a low profile with her personal life, but according to E! News, she gave a little hit on Twitter Tuesday that she could be heading off to her honeymoon.
"Ok, Logging off! See u in a few weeks! So excited 4 all u UK #Gladiators about 2 experience Season 2! Spread the word! July 4th @More4Tweets," she posted.
