It's now been confirmed that Sam Smith is behind the title song for the new James Bond film, Spectre. And with just over a month to go until the release of the film itself, this week has been slated as the one where fans will get to hear Smith's work.
Sam Smith has treated James Bond fans to a sneak peek of his new theme song 'Writing's On The Wall.' The 23-year-old singer has uploaded a short clip of the new song onto his Twitter page, it will soundtrack the upcoming and highly anticipated film Spectre.
"Four days!!!! Thank you so much to everyone pre-ordering, cannot wait for you to hear 'Writing's On The Wall,'" he tweeted.
Although the Spectre theme song doesn't come out until September 25, the singer decided to give fans a preview of what "Writing's On The Wall" is going to sound like.
While there aren't any lyrics in the clip, the powerful instrumental is enough to get fans of Sam and the James Bond films excited as they await for the whole song to come out.
It's 15 seconds of lush orchestration - everything one would expect from a James Bond theme.
With an intro brilliantly recalling Dame Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger, Sam is hoping his track can become just as iconic.
Sam announced the theme song news via his social accounts and thanked the "Spectre" producers for giving him the honor to be part of "this iconic British legacy".
Sam is obviously excited to finally reveal the song he's been working so hard on. The British singer excitedly tweeted about it on September 8: "This is one of the highlights of my career," he wrote. "I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song."
There's big expectations too after Adele won an Oscar for her work on Skyfall, so all eyes and ears will be on Smith's attempt later this week.
The song is up for pre-order now, and Spectre, starring Daniel Craig, lands on UK theaters on October 26 and November 6 in the US.
