Batman V. Superman Star, Gal Gadot, Was Almost in Man of Steel, But Not as Wonder Woman

It won't be long before we get our first glimpse of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The Israeli actress and model will make her big debut as Queen of the Amazons in next March's highly anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, a recent interview reveals that Gadot could have joined the DC cinematic universe much sooner, but in a totally different role.

Speaking with Israeli news site Xnet, the 30-year old Gadot revealed that she almost joined 2013's Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

"When I was a month pregnant with (my daughter) Alma, I got an offer to be the evil Superman character."

The role she's referring to is most likely that of Faora, the kryptonian henchwoman of Michael Shannon's General Zod. The part was played by German actress Antje Traue.

Gadot also speculated that taking the Man of Steel role would most likely have doomed her chances of bagging the coveted Wonder Woman part.

If I wasn't pregnant I'd take the job, and there's no way they would take me now to be Wonder Woman."

It wouldn't be the first time an actor or actress has played different comic book characters. Chris Evans was famously Fantastic Four's Human Torch before picking up Captain America's shield while Ryan Reynolds starred as DC comics icon Hal Jordan in The Green Lantern before jumping ship to Marvel to play Deadpool.

Still you have to admit that things broke perfectly for Gadot. Missing out on the smaller role in Man of Steel paved the way for her eventual rise as one of DC's most iconic characters.

Gadot will make her big debut alongside Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman on March 26, 2016 when Dawn of Justice hits theatres.

A stand alone Wonder Woman film is also in the works.
