Josh Brolin Thanos: Actor Almost Gave Marvel Fan Heart Attack, Playing MCU’s Evil Mastermind Comes With Great Responsibility!

At the end of the 2012 smash "The Avengers," comic book fans all over the world were fascinated to see who was the evil mastermind behind the events Loki prompted in the film, and since then Josh Brolin's Thanos has appeared twice in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and the actor's well aware of the implications of his character!

Following the release of the 2014 MCU film "Guardians of the Galaxy," where Josh Brolin's Thanos made its first appearance (namely, the first time the character talked and did something other than smiling), the actor almost gave a fan a heart attack when he was recognized, making Brolin understand the cult following he was up against.

According to Movie Pilot, when the actor was filming the movie he's currently promoting, "Sicario," he went into a store and someone recognized Josh Brolin as Thanos.

"I walked into a comic book store in Albuquerque and I saw a guy who recognized me as Thanos, who basically had a minor stroke, and I was afraid because his reaction was so severe," the star recounted to Collider on Josh Brolin's Thanos performance. "More severe than I've ever seen any reaction to any actor or somebody recognizable, and I realized Thanos was his life. Thanos was his savior. The whole thing was his - it's like he woke up in the morning swallowed and ate these words in these comic books. So it means a lot. I get the responsibility and I take it with great care."

The Independent reports that Brolin went on to explain Thanos as a character, saying it was a "very different type of acting" than he was used to but still he was exciting about what's next in the role.

It's unclear whether Josh Brolin's Thanos will be making more appearances in the MCU in the next two years, but it's clear he'll become the main villain in the next two "Avengers" films, set for 2018 and 2019 release dates.
