After spending nine months as a couple after meeting on the set of "The Light Between Oceans," Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have ended their relationship, supposedly on good terms, as the "X-Men" star and the "Ex Machina" actress move on to separate professional projects.
Although neither Michael Fassbender or Alicia Vikander have made any official statements regarding a possible split, Us Weekly's exclusively reporting that the two have ended their relationship after less than a year together.
According to Page Six, Michael Fasbender and Alicia Vikander met last November when they were shooting "The Light Between Oceans," a film set for an early 2016 release date that also stars Oscar winner Rachel Weisz, and they tried to keep their relationship as low profile as possible, but they were both still spotted together in a number of locations, including the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo last spring.
Before Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander started going out, the Oscar nominee already had a history of dating co-stars, most famously having been involved with "X-Men: First Class" actress Zoe Kravitz, while the Swedish actress has been also linked to countryman Alexander Skarsgaard.
While the latest reports say Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have called it quits after dating for such a short period, website Lainey Gossip raises the question on whether the whole thing might have been set up as promotion for upcoming films, as the two performers have films being released late this year, and they're both reportedly on the race for awards attention.
Fassbender stars in "Steve Jobs," which will be in theaters in just a few days after its festival run; in the meantime, Vikander plays Eddie Redmayne's wife in the heavily Oscar-buzzed film "The Danish Girl," which has been a broad success with critics in its own festival run.
While a friend of Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander claims there's "no truth" to claims they've ended their relationship, rumors continue - hopefully, there's no truth behind these claims!
