Only a few days after the Kraft Heinz-owned brand went through a series of unpleasant recalls from their turkey bacon products, losing millions of dollars, there's a bright new day for Oscar Mayer bacon lovers, as those people who found relationships on packed meats should find their bacon soon enough.
Following the success of dating apps like Grindr and Tinder, one of the biggest food brands in the world is also taking a step in this direction in a move short of pure marketing genius as they release the Oscar Mayer bacon dating app, dedicated to those people who are certain that bacon is the true foundation of love.
According to AdWeek, the new Oscar Mayer bacon app is called Sizzl, when, upon downloading, users specify their preferences when it comes to bacon with photos of their likes, so the app matches them with other users with similar preferences.
If other Oscar Mayer bacon app users are "Sizzl-ing," they can meet up in what the company's calling "bacon-wrapped dates."
"In love, as it is in bacon, it's important to be discerning when selecting your perfect match and to never settle for less than the best," said Eric Dahmer, the brand's marketing director, in a statement to Digital Trends about the new Oscar Mayer bacon app. "We passionately cure our bacon for 12 hours, and lovingly smokehouse it for another 12, making it the true bacon for bacon lovers. With the launch of Sizzl, we're thrilled to give our true bacon lovers the chance to find each other and potentially meet their soul mates, in life and in bacon."
As Fortune reports, the name "Sizzle" is a reference to a term from the app, the "Sizzle-meter," which is the app's way of swiping left or right; to rate one of the bacon lovers, you have to tap the screen and hold it until the Sizzl-Meter reaches the desired quantity, and if two people rate each other similarly, they will be matched.
