Halloween Special: Burger King Surprises with Spooky Black-Bunned Whopper

Burger King customers could be in for a great treat this coming Halloween.  As reported in Ryot, the fast food chain is planning to unleash a terrifying black-bunned Whoppers in celebration of Halloween.

According to the reports, the Whopper would pretty much look the same except for the black buns.  It will still have the standard Whopper patty, American cheese slices, pickles, A1 steak sauce, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise.  If the Goth-looking burger looks a little familiar to you, you might have encountered Burger King's all-black cheeseburger in Japan last year.  However, United Sates may not adapt Japan's recipe using squid's ink to colour the buns.

Burger King has been known to play around its bun colors before, as in the case of Japan where they had black and red burgers.  Burger King Japan had Kuro Pearl and Kuro Diamond.  Both burgers featured bamboo-charcoal black cheese and black onion garlic sauce.  They also used squid ink to give the sauce its black colour.  The only difference between the two is the additional lettuce, tomato, onions and mayonnaise in Kuro Diamond.  Japan was also known to serve Samurai Burgers that featured a unique red bun and slice of cheese.  Samurai burgers were both available in beef and chicken options.  It was also known to have a spicy chilli bean paste sauce to keep up with the colour scheme.  These were reports according to Foodbeast.

More so, according to Mashable, along with the black-bunned Whopper, Burger King will also be launching a Pumpkin Spice Oreo Shake and Crispy Chicken Sandwich with A1 sauce for the Halloween.  Reddit has posted screenshots of the black-bunned burger.  Allegedly, they were from the fast food's training website, Burger King University.  It was reported that a user has found them while browsing through the website.  It still entirely possible however that the images posted in Reddit may be altered or fabricated as Burger King has not formally announced or released a statement.  When Mashable contacted Burger King, they refused to add anything to the story as of this time.
