Nicki Minaj is one of the most polarizing pop culture figures we have seen in a while. If it isn't about her lyrics or her clothes, it's about her ongoing feud with fellow "American Idol" judge Mariah Carey
Wednsday night was no different as Minaj wore a ruby-red dress that showed perhaps too much cleavage. Some felt as though the outfit was not appropriate due to the age of many viewers, although it was a bit toned down compared to previous outfits she has worn in public and in music videos.
She recently wore pasties in rapper French Montana's "Freaks" video.
Besides her choice in outfits, her choice in words also got her in some trouble with fans on Twitter when she disagreed with Carey about Idol contestant Kree Harrison's performance.
While each judge is entitled to their own opinion, some did not like Minaj's attitude towards the singing legend.
"I disagree... that was the best performance of the night," Minaj said to Carey after Harrison's performance of "She Talks To Angels".
Carey then shot back, in one of their very few verbal exchanges, "I wasn't saying she was awkward... you don't really disagree with me."
Not one to be bossed around, Minaj shot right back, "No, I do and I'll explain."
When Carey tried to respond back, Minaj quipped back "Simmer down, sir" and went into her British accent to deliver the rest of her critique, explaining why she liked the song and performance.
Some fans took to Twitter defending Carey, lambasting Minaj.
"Why does Nicki Minaj try to start [with] Mariah like she 60x better than you will ever be," someone wrote according to Examiner.com.
"[Nicki Minaj] need[s] to show some respect to Mariah Carey. Like at least respect each other's opinion. I love you Mariah," another person chimed in.
Either way, both judges are making millions of dollars and the fans decide who will stay and who will be eliminated anyway.
