It looks like Anthony Horowitz's anti-Idris Elba statement is coming back to haunt him!
The new James Bond author recently caused some controversy when he declared that the 'Luther' actor is "too rough to play the part" of the iconic spy and that Idris Elba is "too street for Bond." Although Anthony Horowitz has already apologized for the statement, some fans still believe that Idris Elba should definitely play James Bond when Daniel Craig retires from the role.
The people at Vulture appear to be firm believers in the 'Idris Elba for James Bond' movement. The website has created an impressive 'Spectre' trailer that features the 'Beast of No Nation' star as 007.
"There's been a lot of talk lately about whether or not Idris Elba would be qualified to play 007. We decided to investigate for ourselves," the video description read.
The trailer was made by video artists Diane Bullock and Mike Schuster. In addition to the official 'Spectre' trailer, 'Idris Elba Plays James Bond' makes use of footage from 'Takers,' 'Luther,' 'The Gunman' and a Jaguar ad.
Idris Elba has been a long-time bookie favorite to play 007 after Daniel Craig, and the 43-year-old English actor has even addressed the possibility of playing James Bond in the future.
"I'm not speaking to the James Bond people. They are not speaking to me," Elba told Variety last August. So if it was to happen, there you go -- the will of the nation."
However, the humble actor refuses to address the possible casting any further. "It's an amazing opportunity," Elba said. "But who knows, man. I've stopped speaking about it now. Even speaking to you now, I shouldn't have answered that question."
'Spectre' is said to be the last James Bond film to feature Daniel Craig as 007. The film is scheduled for release on October 26, 2015.
