In an interview with Business Insider, last May of this year, Rolls-Royce North America President Eric Sheperd revealed the name of the new convertible that the automaker is designing. Sheperd believes that the "car is the most beautiful Rolls-Royce I've ever seen." The company unveiled the new convertible last Tuesday.
This latest convertible is called the 'Dawn', a 'complementary drophead' to the Wraith coupe that was already in production months before. Automaker has dubbed this as its "sexiest" creation. The Dawn was unveiled during the Frankfurt Motor Show. According to CNN Money, this is not your usual Rolls as the contours are made more fluid with sides flaring out around the rear wheel wells. Its front end is more rounded.
This sleek masterpiece is powered by a 563 horsepower V12 engine and the designers chose Midnight Sapphire as the exterior paint colour that seems to mirror the midnight sky. The interior is found to be bright as the leather seats were dyed vibrant orange. Same with the previous models of Rolls-Royce, the doors of the Dawn open backwards. They are hinged in the rear so one can slide through the opening in front of them rather than behind, as in most cars. In the cabin, it is equipped with all the accoutrements you might expect of an ultra-luxury vehicle with access to BMW's parts bin, including a touchpad with character recognition for text entry into the navigation system, heads-up display, and dynamic cruise control.
Giles Taylor, director of Rolls-Royce design said in a statement, "In creating Dawn, we have accepted no compromise to the comfort and luxury of four adults who want to travel together in the pinnacle of style." Designers made sure that the cloth top will work as quietly as possible, opening and closing at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
According to Verge , the first model year for the Dawn is already sold out with deliveries to start early next year.
