We've got some good news for Christopher Nolan fans. Warner Brothers has just announced that the revered auteur's next film will be released on July 21, 2017. The bad news? No one knows what it's about.
Back in July reports surfaced that Nolan had completed the script for this new project, but as is custom with the director, no information was revealed.
Nolan is notorious for keeping the details of his projects under lock and key. During the making of his last film, the sci-fi space epic Interstellar, he reportedly kept the details of the plot secret from Hans Zimmer, his longtime score composer. If Zimmer couldn't get the inside scoop on that film, don't expect plot details for this new movie to be released anytime soon. Fans looking to learn more will probably have to wait a bit longer.
If it's anything like past Nolan-Warner Bros. collaborations however, we should be in for a treat. The pair have a sterling track record that includes the entirety of Nolan's Batman Trilogy, the mind bending thriller Inception and the aforementioned Interstellar.
The trilogy raked in an impressive $2.45 billion at the global box office while Inception brought in about $530 million. The latter took home $800 million. Movie goers will no doubt have high expectations for the next fruit of this collaboration.
According to Variety, the chosen release date will see Nolan's competing with Universal's acapella sequel 'Pitch Perfect 3', director Luc Besson's 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets', and a still untitled animation project from Fox.
Fans hungry for more Nolan films will be happy to know that director does have a smaller project available for viewing. He recently directed a short documentary titled Quay which examines the work of stop motion animation duo Stephen and Timothy Quay.
