President Obama Eats A Bear's Leftover Salmon At 'Running Wild With Bear Grylls' [VIDEO]

President Barack Obama takes the Alaskan wild with survival expert Bear Grylls. TODAY released an exclusive clip of POTUS trekking the woods and eating a salmon as part of their wild adventure.

Shot during his three-day visit to Alaska, President Obama joined Grylls in an exciting experience of his life. "This has got to be one of the best days of my presidency," Obama said while filming the special episode of NBC's "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" last week. "First of all, I'm not in the office. Second of all, I'm not in a suit."

Just because the U.S. chief executive was prepared for an adventure at the woods doesn't mean he didn't think twice about eating whatever the adventurer serves him.

"I've seen some of the stuff Bear eats, and it's gotta be something that doesn't still have its legs and eyes on it," Obama said. "I want it not to be too recognizable."

To his surprise, Grylls got them both a salmon for lunch - a leftover from an actual bear just along the river bank. As Grylls explained, bears often eat the fattiest part of the fish - the brain, eggs and skin - leaving the meat part behind.

After roasting the fish, Grylls handed Obama a bite which he then thought was "tasty" although "It would have been nice if we had a cracker to go with it."

The experience wasn't that bad for the president, though. "Bear's a mediocre cook, but the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging," he added. "Now, the fact that he told me this was a leftover fish from a bear, I don't know if that was necessary. He could have just left that out."

Obama posted a selfie with Grylls taken while they were filming the episode looking like he enjoyed it. "Glad this was the only Bear I met in the park," he wrote.

Obama's visit to Alaska is part of his on-going project to curb climate change.
