Dutch Supermodel Yfke Sturm Finally Awakens!

Dutch supermodel, Yfke Sturm, has awaken from coma following her recent accident with a motorised surfboard.

The 33 year old model, suffered from a fractured skull and severe spinal injuries after she was hit by a speeding surfboard. She was rushed to a hospital in the southern city of Naples and have been put into a medically-induced coma to save her life after the scary accident.

Now, her representative confirmed that she is already awake.

"Yfke has made an almost full recovery and is up and about walking with her son," her modelling agent told the Mail Online. "This is great news and we are delighted to say she will be heading home with her family later this week."

"We would like to thank everyone for all their kind messages of support and well wishes, during this time," the agent added. "Yfke is feeling much better and is looking forward to getting back to normal life."

The accident took place near the southern Italian island of Ischia last week. She was reportedly on holiday during that time. She was riding a motorised surfboard when she fell off from the jet. As she tried to swim to safety another speeding jet reportedly struck her.

She was air lifted by the Italian Coast Guard to Naples' regional polyclinic, where specialists immediately treated her.

Many believed that she might suffer permanent paralysis and she might remain in coma due to a fracture in her skull and serious injuries on her spinal cord.

Ms Sturm, who had her first child in August, walked for the famous international brands, including Ralph Lauren, Victoria's Secret, Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Valentino, Dior and Calvin Klein. She also hosted 'Holland's Next Top Model.'  She also posed for top fashion publications such as Vanity Fair, Vogue and Elle.

She was married for three years to businessman, Imad Izemrane but they divorced in 2010.
