Suicide Squad: Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn Admired by Original Creator

In the upcoming Suicide Squad film, which will kick off in 2016, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn has drawn criticism from some comic-book traditionalists.

However, Paul Dini (who co-created the original Quinn character for the "Batman" animated series), praised how director David Ayer re-imagine the character of Harley Quinn (Joker's girlfriend).

The American writer and producer - Paul Dini said in an interview, "I know it's jarring to a lot of the people who love the classic Bruce Timm suit, I love it myself. But in that world (of the 'Suicide Squad' movie), I just don't see it happening," "It's a rougher, more street look. I think it works fine."

The American character designer, animator and producer - Bruce Timm and Paul Dini are the two highly intelligent people behind the outrageous female sidekick of the Joker. And Bruce Timm said that the version of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is "interesting" and "pretty cute."

The Australian actress Margot Robbie said that she's overwhelmed by the film's obsessive fan base. Margot Robbie also said that it's an advantage for her to do Suicide Squad film first, then do the smaller movies like "Z for Zachariah," as her new post-apocalyptic thriller.

Margot Robbie stated, "I definitely didn't think it through when I took on the job, but once you're in the midst of it, it's too late to take it back. The whole comic-book world has such a huge fan base," Margot Robbie added, "But fortunately when you're on set every day, you're with the same crew, and the same cast every day for so many months, that you're kind of sheltered from it. You get a taste of it when you do exterior shoots, like on the streets, and fans line up -- you're kind of reminded of how closely people are watching and anticipating it."

The Suicide Squad movie is about supervillains accepting a secret government mission that will likely result in their deaths.

Director David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is slated to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
