Stephen Colbert Gears Up For Tonight's Premiere

All eyes will be on CBS' 11:30 slot tonight as Stephen Colbert makes his much anticipated debut as host of The Late Show. The comedian and satirist shocked the entertainment world in April when he announced that he would be leaving Comedy Central's, The Colbert Report to take over for the recently retired David Letterman.

His maiden voyage as Late Show host will feature actor George Clooney and republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush as guests. Jon Batiste and Stay Human, the show's new in-house band, will perform the musical number for the night.

Tomorrow's roster includes Avengers star Scarlett Johannson together with Tesla founder Elon Musk. Rapper Kendrick Lamar will be the musical act.

Thursday's guest will be Travis Kalanick, CEO of ride-sharing giant Uber. Country star Toby Keith will perform.

Comedian Amy Schumer and best-selling author Stephen King are Friday's scheduled interviews. Troubled Waters, a Simon and Garfunkel tribute band, will be interviewed and also perform to close the show.

Many are wondering how Colbert will fare as the host of a straight laced talk show. He made a name for himself on Comedy Central playing a parody of a conservative talking head.

Colbert has resorted to some rather amusing tactics to promote his new gig. Back in July he made a surprise appearance on a local Michigan TV station where he proceeded to interview rapper Eminem.

"Since my last show ended in December, I've been itching to host a talk show again, but my new theater's not ready yet, so I decided to head over to Monroe, Michigan, look around, and give it a Michigander," Says Colbert in the hilarious clip, which is available for viewing on Youtube.

Can we expect more surprises like this on The Late Show? We'll have to tune in to find out.
