A Dutch supermodel is now in an Italian hospital fighting for her life after being run over by a jet-surfboard.
Yfke Sturm is now in coma as she suffers from a fractured skull and severe spinal injuries, according to Daily Mail.
The 33 year old model was reportedly on holiday near the southern Italian island of Ischia last week, when the accident happened. She is said to be riding a motorised surfboard when she fell off from the jet.She was trying to swim to safety when another speeding jet reportedly struck her.
Sturm was immediately rescued by the Italian Coast Guard and was flown to Naples' regional polyclinic.
She is now suffering serious injuries on her spinal cord, which might result to permanent paralysis and she remains in coma due to her fractured skull, according to the Daily Mail.
Ms Sturm, who had her first child in August, walked for the famous international labels, including Ralph Lauren, Victoria's Secret, Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Valentino, Dior and Calvin Klein. She also hosted 'Holland's Next Top Model.' She also posed for top fashion publications such as Vanity Fair, Vogue and Elle.
Her modelling career began in 1997. After winning numerous modelling competitions, she landed herself a modelling contract with Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.
Aside from modelling, she is also an ambassador for the Dutch Red Cross Foundation and started "Yfke 4 Kids." Aiming to help children all over the world who have AIDS.
Ms Strum married the businessman, Imad Izemrane but after three years of being together, the pair decided to divorce in 2010.
According to Mirror, it was only in July when she welcomed the arrival of her new born son with her boyfriend, French supermodel, Constance Jablonski.
After giving birth, she wrote on her Facebook page, "Words can not descibe how excited we are for the arrival of our son Alexander!!"
