The Dark Side Rises: Devon’s Ultra-Exclusive Star Wars Watch [VIDEO]

Scott Devon, conceptual artist and designer, who has designed a supercar among others, has come out with his newest watch creation. The ultra-cool Devon Star Wars Watch takes heavy inspiration from Darth Vader and his personal TIE Fighter.

What is truly amazing about the watch is its impeccable homage to the Sith lord and the very machine that powers the timepiece. The exterior of this truly unique watch is undeniably Imperial hardware. Where the cockpit of the TIE Fighter should be is the watch crown. It features an elaborately designed Imperial crest in its center. Its laser turrets also resemble details from Darth Vader’s iconic helmet.

Devon has patented a system using interwoven Time Belts called Tread 1. The way the belts move is truly mesmerizing and tell the time in a unique way. Unlike mechanical watches which rely on kinetic movement or quartz watches which rely on disposable batteries, Devon watches are rechargeable using inductive charging. The batteries are lithium-polymer and can hold a charge of up to two weeks.

The materials used in this eye-catching piece are state of the art. The case is made of 316L stainless steel coated with “true black diamond-like coating.” The display uses a high-tech bulletproof scratch-resistant polycarbonate lens and is made of “temperature-compensated crystal.”

More tech can be found in the watch. It has multiple high-tech optical recognition cells for an accurate movement, 313 electrical contacts, and an onboard microprocessor. The movement is made up of “four interwoven 2-micron thin nylon time belts.” These belts are the same ones used in the original 747 aircraft. Titanium fasteners seal in the watch case.

Each of the limited edition watches is comprised of 350 individual pieces, according to Devon. This fact alone makes it one of the most intricate watches in the world today. Based on the diagram on the website, the watch has an hour, minute, and second function. It is also accurate up to 0.5 seconds per day.
The limited edition Devon Star Wars Watch retails for $28,500.00. The timepiece will also include exclusive TIE Fighter cuff links. Meanwhile, check out Scott Devon talk about his eye-catching timepiece:
