It looks like Tom Holland was destined to play Spider-Man after all!
When the young star of 'The Impossible' was announced to be the next Peter Parker, netizens were torn between being excited for the new Spider-Man and not being sure what Tom Holland is capable of. Some people even wondered who the actor was that had beaten out the internet's chosen one Asa Butterfield. However, a quick look at Holland's Instagram account proves that he is light on his feet and could easily portray the Marvel webslinger.
Tom Holland has posted another Instagram picture that may prove that it is part of his destiny to be Peter Parker. The 19-year-old actor shared a photo of himself holding up a tiny Spider-Man costume with the caption, "A trip down memory lane... Thanks mum for keeping this."
Although Tom Holland has already filmed his cameo in 'Captain America: Civil War' and is getting ready to work on the 'Spider-Man' standalone movie, there are still a few people who aren't happy about the reboot.
Emma Thompson recently spoke to Vulture, where she said she isn't interested in watching the new 'Spider-Man.'
"If I see yet another 'Spider-Man,' I'm going to have to actually hang myself," Thompson said. "I can't do it anymore! They're all marvelous, but how many times can you make this franchise, for crying out loud?"
The veteran actress did point out that her ire was not focused on Tom Holland as Spider-Man, but on the sudden superhero movie boom in general.
"After a while, you do get a tiny bit cynical about it," Thompson said. "The fact that I know they're going to win out in the end has now slightly interfered with my continuing to go to those movies."
'Captain America: Civil War' is set to premiere on May 6, 2016 while the still un-named Spider-Man film will be released on July 28, 2017.
