Mr. Robot's Sam Esmail Discusses Season Finale! Is Elliot's Alter Ego Here To Stay, Will Whiterose Return And What Happened To Tyrell?

Despite its weeklong delay, the season finale of 'Mr. Robot' did not disappoint fans when it revealed that Elliot (Rami Malek) is in the middle of a psychotic break that has made him create an alter ego with his father's face. In addition to that, he has no idea what it real anymore and Tyrell (Martin Wallstrom) has gone AWOL. Oh, and don't forget the stunning conversation between Philip (Michael Christofer) and Whiterose (BD Wong) in the post-credits scene.

So what's in store for 'Mr. Robot' Season Two?

Showrunner Sam Esmail has just spoken to TVLine to confirm whether Mr. Robot, White Rose and Tyrell are all coming back for the next season. The series creator first clarified what Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) meant when he said, "We're all together now."

"People always ask me, 'What's the show about?' I couldn't really answer that question in all honesty until now," Esmail said. "Originally I wrote this as a feature and this was the 30-page mark, the realization Elliot has about his fragmented personality. Having to face his alter ego and starting to reconcile that in a real way. That to me is what the heart of the future seasons of this show will be about. So when Mr. Robot says he's not going away, that's true for Elliot and the show."

Sam Esmail also confirmed that Dark Army's transgendered leader Whiterose will have a larger role in 'Mr. Robot' Season Two due to the actor's amazing ability in creating the character.

"I would be stupid not to work with BD Wong again," Esmail said. "He's such an amazing actor, and the scene that he did in [Episode 8].... He was just brilliant."

And will Tyrell finally resurface in the second season?

"I think I'm going to plead the fifth on that, so I don't spoil anything for anyone," Esmail said.

The 'Mr. Robot' season finale was postponed for a week due to the live broadcast shooting of two WDBJ journalists in Virginia.
