Taco Bell Menu Gets Absurd With ‘Naked Crispy Chicken’ Taco, Tortilla’s Made From Fried Chicken Flatbread! [PHOTO]

Over the past few months, it seems like the Taco Bell menu has fully embraced the fast food chain's reputation for being the ultimate food for the munchies, as they're expanding on increasingly odder items - now including a taco that, instead of a tortilla, actually uses fried chicken!

After the chain spent the past few months mostly focused on the breakfast Taco Bell menu instead of their actual dining, launching items such as the Biscuit and Frito Tacos as well as teaming up with Cap'n Crunch to make doughnuts, but now they're going back to the Tex-Mex dining they became famous for.

According to Fortune, the latest Taco Bell menu item is called the Naked Crispy Chicken Taco, and it's basically fairly thin white meat chicken that has been breaded to double as a tortilla, later filled with lettuce, tomato, avocado ranch sauce and shredded cheese.

Food Beast reports that this new Taco Bell menu item is currently on trial, only available in a few selected venues, at the time of their reporting it was only seen in Lost Hills, California, individually sold for $2.49; however, other reports claim that since then, the Naked Crispy Chicken Taco has been found in other locations, most notably in Bakersfield, CA.

According to USA Today, this new taco could explain the sudden disappearance of other crispy chicken items from the Taco Bell menu, as they're obviously focusing on trying out whether this new version of the taco would work beyond California.

Business Insider compares the new item to KFC's Double Down, which also makes sense considering both companies are actually subsidiaries of Yum! Brands, so perhaps they're now exchanging a few tips here and there.

So far, Taco Bell has made no statements regarding their current trial, so fans of fast food will have to wait to know whether this new Taco Bell menu item will be expanding anytime soon.
