McDonald's New 'Egg White Delight'

One of the world's leading fast food restaurants, McDonald's is going to begin serving a yolk -free version of their famous Egg McMuffin sandwich Yahoo Finance reported. The sandwich will be called "Egg White Delight".

The website also explained the modern version of the classic breakfast sandwich, would be made with a whole grain muffin, Canadian bacon and white cheddar cheese. The yolk-free sandwich would contain 260 calories; 8.6% less calories than the original which contains 300 calories.

Sources believe the sandwich was beginning to be tested, last year. According to Yahoo Finance, "It was revealed as part of the company's announcement that it would begin posting calorie counts on menu nationwide ahead of a new federal regulation".

The fast food company is creating the new sandwich in an effort to offer consumers healthier menu options. They do offer a variety of different salads on their menu. Some of the options are: Premium Caesar Salad, Premium Caesar Salad With Grilled Chicken, Premium Southwest Salad With Grilled Chicken and a Plain Side Salad. The fast food restaurant also offers their guests fresh fruit and walnuts along with apple slices and yogurt parfait. The company also offers their guests healthier beverage options like low calorie milks and bottled water.

If McDonald's begins to offer consumers healthier breakfast items, the giant fast food company could potentially see an increase in their sales. The obesity epidemic frequently makes headlines. It is a national problem; many Americans are trying to live healthier lifestyles. Americans often dine out at fast food restaurants because they are inexpensive and serve quick food.

According to The Associated Press, Danya Proud, a spokeswoman for McDonald's, said people will be able to request egg whites for other breakfast sandwiches too. This could be a successful business move for the fast food chain company because it could increase their morning sales.

According to the company's official website, they are determined to continuously improve our social and environmental performance. "We work hard, together with our suppliers and independent restaurant franchisees, to strive toward a sustainable future - for our company and the communities in which we operate."

There are over 34,000 McDonald's restaurants worldwide.
