Last week, Burger King made headlines when they reached out to a fellow fast food chain, McDonald's, to create a burger together for Peace Day.
McDonald's ended up saying no to the Burger King offer to make a 'McWhopper.' But it seems as though Denny's is stepping in to fill that missing piece of the puzzle.
The beloved American diner chain came up to Burger King, and proposed to collaborate on the "Grand Slam Whopper," which is basically a mash-up of Denny's popular Grand Slam, and Burger King's Whopper.
Denny's has been campaigning for the Peace Burger to happen - they've uploaded several posts on their social media accounts, in addition to full-page ads.
In one Instagram post, Denny's captioned: "Hey @burgerking how about a Slampper© or a Whammper© or a Whoppaslamus-rex© or something?"
While another Instagram video - which seems much like an actual commercial for the Peace Burger - reads, "Hey @burgerking ...or the Whoppaslam©? The Slopper©? The Slamopper©? Wouldn't that be whopperslamalicious?!"
After much waiting, Denny's finally got an answer from Burger King - it's even bigger than you imagined!
In a Tumblr post, which was also tweeted, Burger King presented an open letter titled, "An Open Letter From Burger King To Denny's Wayback Burgers, Krystal, Giraffas, and McDonald's."
The letter started out telling McDonald's that their offer still stands, stating, "[...] Although they haven't yet agreed to come on-board, our original proposal still stands. McDonald's, please take your time. We're totally at peace with that."
It continued:
"Naturally, peace is all-inclusive and open to all. So Denny's, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, and Giraffas, we'd like to build on your individual proposals to collaborate on Peace Day, Septeber 21, 2015. Our idea would be that we all come together to create a burger that combines a key ingredient from each of our signature sandwiches.
"The Peace Day Burger.
"We already have a pop-up restaurant under construction, so all we need from you guys is a simple 'yes' plus your cooperation and a donation to Peace One Day. Let's keep the conversation alive and create a burger merger to remember on Peace Day, September 21, 2015."
Looks like this collaboration will definitely go down in fast food history! International Peace Day will be on September 21st.
