Andrew Garfield talks about his new look, his long hair, "Spiderman", and why he says he's "over it."
In his interview with E! Online to promote his new film 99 Homes, the actor shares he's "very excited" to chop his hair off.
Although he thinks having a long hair has been a "hassle", he still has no choice but sport the rugged look for an upcoming Martin Scorsese film Silence. In this movie, Garfield plays a 17th century Jesuit priest travelling to Japan to find their mentor.
"I had to kind of get lost in the wilderness [in Silence] so no barber shops in the wilderness in the 1600s in Japan," Garfield joked. "I didn't find one anyway."
Last Sunday, the actor, his long hair and girlfriend/Spiderman co-star Emma Stone were snapped having lunch in Los Angeles. When asked about his plans to work in another Spiderman movie, the 32-year-old actor said there won't be any.
In fact, the actor opened up about dealing with the pressure in portraying the iconic comic book hero saying it wasn't worth it.
"The pressure to get it right, to please everyone... it's not going to happen...You end up pleasing no one, or everyone just a little bit," he told Indiewire's The Playlist. "Like, 'Eh, that was good.' [The films are] mass-marketed, like 'We want 50-year-old white men to love it, gay teenagers to love it, bigot homophobes in Middle America to love it, 11-year-old girls to love it.' That's canning Coke. So, that aspect of it was a bummer."
"Especially for the group of us trying to infuse it with soul, trying to make it unique, something that was worth the price of entry. It was about authenticity, flavor, and truth," he continued. "But at the same time, I understand people want to make a lot of money, and they're going to spend a lot of money so the playpen can be as big as it was. I can't live that way; it sounds like a prison, to be honest, living within those expectations."
With a net worth of $10million, Garfield says he just can't wait to be a normal Spiderman fan again. "I can't wait to watch [the next Spiderman]," he said about the upcoming film that will star Tom Holland. "I just can't wait to be a fan again and just watch and enjoy myself watching."
