Books Like '50 Shades of Grey' and Nicholas Sparks 'Safe Haven' Continue to Provide Their Readers with Regurgitated Garbage

Many authors have one goal in common and that is to make it the New York Best Sellers list. It is a huge accomplishment; it shows people enjoy their work enough to purchase an entire book. This is amazing especially because most people would rather sit on their couch and watch a simple Youtube video or watch a movie rather than read a book for entertainment.

Right now, the books that are topping the list are Safe Haven, Nicholas Sparks novel, the controversial 50 Shades of Grey, Waiting For Love and Fifty Shades Darker. These are not all of the books currently trending the list however they all have a few things in common. They are regurgitated garbage shoved down our throats over and over again. How many times is Nicholas Sparks going to publish the same type of book? More than likely we will be seeing plenty of Sparks due to his high sales and the fact that his books are often turned in to movies (The Notebook, The Lucky One and The Last Song).

E.L. James has been topping the New York Best Sellers list for months due to her controversial book series about a young, attractive, wealthy businessman that enjoys engaging in crazy sexual escapades. The protagonist throughout the series is a plain Jane by the name of Ana. She is innocent, fragile and of course becomes seduced by Christian Grey. Many people are calling the series the "adult". Version of Twilight. Let's face it these books all continue to instill the same concepts of unrealistic love expectations, unhealthy relationships and a sense of ridiculousness.

People love fantasy and that is fine. That is why they go watch movies, enjoy television and spend masses amount of time on the internet indulging in fabrication. There has to be a line that must be drawn; these stories should start incorporating a sense of realism into their story lines. How many times are women going to be exposed to a weak female lead? Ana literally does not have a back bone and she is so mesmerized by this Christian Grey character even though he is abusive. Of course the series will be turned into a film franchise and it is currently being debated as to who will play the lead roles.
