In a new shocking announcement because there were no signs of a pregnancy, the actress has just welcomed a new child to the world, as Lucy Liu's baby boy, Rockwell Lloyd Liu, came to her mother through a surrogate.
The 46 year-old actress is notably private about her personal life, and little is known about her even if she's starring in one of the most successful shows currently on television, "Elementary," so Lucy Liu's baby announcement was a happy surprise for the press, as she posted a photo of the newborn boy on a very sweet Instagram post.
"Lucy Liu is the proud mother of Rockwell Lloyd Liu, brought into the world via gestational carrier," said a rep for the actress to The New York Daily News about Lucy Liu's baby son. "Mom and baby are healthy and happy."
Long before this week's announcement of Lucy Liu's baby, her first child, the "Ally McBeal" actress spoke to The Daily Mail about motherhood, as she'd shared in the past that she wanted to have a child of her own, adding in 2013 that "it just hasn't happened yet" - though it's clear that her strong desire to be a mom was coming to light at the time, as she ultimately decided to have a child via surrogate.
According to Hello! Magazine, it seems like the actress had gone back and forth on the idea of Lucy Liu's baby, as back in 2010 she joked that she believed her biological clock was broken and that someone had thrown out the battery.
In any case, it's clear that she's more than happy with her decision to have a child now, as her expression on the Instagram photo is one of complete bliss, as she welcomed the "new little man" in her life oozing love.
Congratulations to the "Charlie's Angels" actress on Lucy Liu's baby!
